This is the Englewood Veterans Memorial at the west end of Dearborn Street. It was recently built in 2014-15 at a cost of a few million dollars.
The center circular pavillion of the memorial has sky lights in the center of the roof.
The use of low maintenance landscaping keeps the place looking good.
The Blue Star Memorial plaque is located on the west end of the pavillion.
Each flag has a raised concrete pad with a medallion of each armed forces branch embedded. This part of the memorial is located on the Lemon Bay side of the street. So part of the memorial is on the waterfront overlooking the bay.
This is a picture taken from the Veterans Memorial Park looking across the bay at Indian Mound Park.
This is another looking across the bay at Indian Mound Park. The "Big Bridge" in the background is actually about 2 miles away. The picture was taken with a 40x zoom lens which made an interesting optical illusion.
Just another pleasant view of Lemon Bay from the Veterans Memorial. The sailboat is moored is one of the few deeper water areas of the bay. Most of it is too shallow for sailboats with fixed keels.
